About

Part of Gamma Communications PLC, The Loop is the trading name of an extensive fibre network in Manchester. The network originally consisted of 82Km of duct and sub-duct containing multiple fibre pairs wholly owned by Gamma and part of the original assets acquired from Atlantic Telecom in 2002 with a further 33Km of sub-duct extending south of Manchester to Airport City. Recent investment of additional fibre means that the network now covers 150km.

The fibre network lay dormant until its re-launch (as The Loop) in 2012. It spans a wide geographic area of Manchester with a footprint that runs through both urban/residential and commercial areas. The Loop fibre network has well established connections to most of Manchester’s leading datacentres and is supported by our team of over 100 Gamma staff in our Manchester Network Operations Centre.

The Loop provides Dark Fibre, Managed Bandwidth, Internet access and the latest IP telephony products. No contention, no sharing, no compromise.

With offices in Manchester, London, Glasgow, Newbury, Fareham and Budapest, Gamma has a staff of 559. It has been ranked in the Sunday Times ‘100 Best Companies to Work For’ three years running and is a consistent ‘Network Operator of the Year’ award winner.

Gamma customers include FTSE100 organisations and critical welfare services. It operates a comprehensive service governance model, with the majority of products certified to ISO22301, ISO27001 and ND1643 (OFCOM’s mandated security standard for next generation operators).
